Of Larks and Zears … Part 1

Dear reader,

Allow for me to impart to you some knowledge of events which have transpired a long time ago. I shall spin this yarn for you, this tale of history.

At the fall of the age of Hadren’s, when Varjas and his half of the kingdom were sealed away, and Adrian was shattered while his support fell to darkness… Many other families fought for power and control.  In the immediate power vacuum on ancient Astra and the planes, 5 main families struggled for control. These families were the Larks, the Zears, the Silvas, the Crimson, and the Icgolumaks.  The Icgolumaks, for the most part, stuck to themselves and did not participate in these wars. During the war, many outsiders and others joined the families of Lark and Crimson.

The Zears, who had been a part of an alliance with Adrian’s side of the kingdom, saw the opportunity to take Astra for themselves. However, the Crimson who followed the older half-brother, Ash’Braen, of Adrian and Varjas made a claim to it. The Larks, who were the descendants of the eldest half-brother, Derasky, also made a claim.  The result was a 3-way war between the Larks, Zears, and Crimson families. During the war, a 4th, smaller yet powerful family stepped onto the field, the Silvas; they did their best to heal those who were injured during the war and tried to remain neutral during this time. This neutral stance led them to try and create a ceasefire area where victims could go to rest, escape from the battle, or be healed.  This neutral stance would eventually cause the Zears and the Larks to use them in the war and caused them to gain more enemies than friends in the long run.

The Larks made a pact with the Zears to share Astra and the spoils of the war against the Crimson, who had the stronger warriors.  In the end, the Crimson was beaten back, unable to stop a joint offensive, which leads to the king of the Larks killing the king and queen of the Crimson. Upon his parent’s death, the prince of Crimson vowed to serve the Lark family to avoid the slaughtering of the rest of his family.  The Zears took the princess of crimson as a tribute for their effort.

With the Crimson out of the way, the Larks looked to their next threat, the Zears and the Silvas. The Zears who they had allied themselves with were a family with very different values, and the king of Larks wanted to see them destroyed.  At this time, the Larks had two princes and a princess who were born to them.  The Silvas had 2 princesses born to them around the same time.  Seeing this, the king of the Larks struck a deal with the Zears,  they would leave Astra, the creation plane, to him, and they would take the shadow plane. In payment, the Zears could have the princess of the Silvas; as at that time, the Zears were demanding the princess of the Larks to marry the two families, but the Lark king would not agree to those terms.

The king of Larks, seeing that he had two sons, decided that he had no need for two heirs, as a battle for succession would most likely take place. He planned to marry his heir to his daughter to further the purity of the bloodline and solidify the family. He gave his other son to an experiment with his brother EyeLark, and one of his trusted followers, DeathLark.  His plans took a pause when the King of the Silvas approached him with a plan of his own; the Silvas didn’t like the Zears either and wanted to marry one of his daughters to the prince of the Larks and broker a proper peace and alliance between the two families.  The king of Larks thought on this and never officially answered the Silvas.

The queen of the Larks heard of this plan and thought she would advance things on her own; she arranged for the prince and princess of Larks to mate a lot earlier than the king had originally planned. The king, once learning that his daughter was now pregnant, grew furious and banished his son from the Larks. The king of Zears had many heirs, and to choose a successor, he tasked them with claiming a princess of one of the other great families.  The Zears many successors hunted the other families and started a war with the Icgolumaks, and renewed hostilities with the Silvas.

Part of the soul of BloodLark, and the soul of the second prince of the Larks were brought together by DeathLark and EyeLark, and were born into the Creation Core by Phearyka. During this time, the second princess of the Silvas was captured by the Zears.  The sister of the Silvas’s queen hunted down the missing princess; however in the end, both lost their life. The king of Silvas, with the aid of Derasky, salvaged the soul’s princess and the Silvas queen’s sister. These two souls were made into the Silver Core, born threw the queen of Silvas.

The banished prince of the Larks found the remaining princess of Silvas under attack by one of the heirs to the Zears. The Lark prince killed the Zear and his followers and took the princess of Silvas back to her parents.  The king of Silvas, seeing this, agreed for SkyLark and Snow Silvas to be mates, assuming that the king of Larks had agreed to his deal.  Snow and Sky learned that Snow’s sister and aunt had been slain by the Zears and that they would likely keep hunting Snow and now Sky since killing one of the heirs.   The two, Snow and Sky, decided to hunt the Zears instead.

May your souls glow as brightly as the stars, dear reader, as you await the next chapter.
